There must be an alternative to the open burning that is allowed to go on. This burning is very harmful to health and why should we export our garbage wood by imposing this on others who are unfortunate to be downwind. The okanagan valley vents very poorly and my health is impacted so severely when there is burning that I feel I must leave this place in order to survive. What right do others have to pollute the air that we share. I can only support stronger anti polluting laws because many in this valley just do not care about this valley or others health. I support the ban of these burners and all open burning in very strong terms.

One of the nations best equipped hazardous waste disposal plants is located in swan hills Alberta. A few years ago I met an engineer from that plant. We discussed burn temperatures vs. emisions. In short the hotter the cleaner. It would be a bit pre mature to say air assisted fire is better than an open one. However it is probably a better class of emission as it’s done with all at once as opposed to slow burns or the ones emitted from rotting materials over a long period of time in a land fill. Taking easily disposed wood products to a land fill seems redundant. Trucking large amounts of wood and related trash is costly as is the handling. Space in land fills is finite and should be managed as alternatives are very costly once the sites are all full. There is a great amount of bad wood to get rid of, enough to fill the land fills and then some. Local controlled burns are cost effective and the process is complete. If the air curtain can incinerate quick and efficiently and add control to the process at the same time then it seems like a logical way of doing things.
