SUBJECT: returned because Canada Post lost the "to" label
I am horrified. I went to the post office approximately a week and a half ago at Lincoln Fields (in Ottawa, Ontario). I paid $15.76 to send a hand-crocheted blanket I made my aunt, who lives in Campbellton, New Brunswick. It was returned yesterday to another post office (at 3080 Carling Avenue, also in Ottawa) and I was advised that the person they had delivered it to didn't accept it. I contacted my cousin (in NB) and was advised that her mother (my aunt) hadn't received it and would definitely not have sent it back. Then, the person whom I was speaking with said the person who received it even ripped the address label off. Now, my Auntie is 92, and wouldn't even be able to do that (since I had packing tape covering the "to" address. So, I went to get it this morning to determine what had happened. Not only was the "to" label ripped off, but the person who had done that had written in pen, the address however it was incorrect as he/she had written a unit number of the street address, and my aunt lives in her own big house (it is not a rooming house). I found out I had to pay the return postage, and to re-send it - they charged me an additional $35.17. I want this money refunded, because the label was ripped off by someone who works in Canada Post and the fact that it couldn't be delivered is 100% the fault of Canada Post. I plan to go right to the top with my complaint. Either these postal workers can do their jobs or not - and obviously - they seem to be hiring a lot of incompetent people! I'm tired of wasting tax money on a system that doesn't work. I am retaining proof of money spent, and proof of my item being returned without reason, for further action I tend to take against Canada Post!
OkanaganLakeBC.ca says Hope you get your money back for the label that was tampered with.
SUBJECT: Green Mailboxes
I happened onto seeing this Canada Post comment site, and I couldn't resist adding one regarding personal rural delivery experience. First, I live only 2.5km from an actual post office (Sydenham) yet I have to drive almost right by it to travel nearly 15km each way to receive my packages at a post/office gas station in Hartington. (I observe the same mail truck serving the two routes by the way). Second, our green boxes don't allow small parcel delivery (no common keyed compartment). I requested a more modern community box from Canada Post following their own suggestion. A few weeks later I get a reply from Canada Post, saying simply: "No", and that their policy is that "they don't swap furniture with furniture". Well, I guess that's it. Green boxes forever! They also say that they drive to your house if mail requires a signature. That might be, but I have yet to experience this.
SUBJECT: Post Master conduct
Post master in small northern community need intervention or warning to be polite to people who check their mail. She has become a mean most impolite employee of Postal Service and the people in the community do not know who to report her to. she need to be desperately replaced soon.. Her name is Kamiga A..
SUBJECT: This website is full of idiots
You are a bunch of whining idiots. There is no free lunch. If you want your mail delivered, use the system correctly, including the Postal Code. It is as simple as that.
SUBJECT: postal delivery changes in springville, n.s.
dear ombudsman, there is not one iota of common sense in the changes to rural delivery. with minimal information from canada post i was mailed keys to the new group box, a drive of 7.3 kilometres (one way) a total of almost 15 kliks to pick up my mail. at the new location in eureka (which is completely out of my way) there are 150 outdoor mail boxes. being rural this means that at LEAST 120 people must drive to the site. the cost, time required and safety risk by the individual is absurd - not to mention the increased number of vehicles on the roads instead of one delivery person who passes this way every day - this is TOTALLY nonsensical! 1) how many delivery people have been killed or maimed delivering mail? i was told it was SAFETY concerns that brought this about, well what about us? many people are seniors (myself included) have health issues or dont drive at all. 2) my contacts here are dave h.and juanita g. my calls are not returned. i was told i could move my mail box to the other side of my driveway (i dont get this either) but need a marker. all seems very secretive and there is no cooperation at all. if you could provide me with someone i could actually reach, id appreciate this very much. something must be done about this situation. arlene irvine
SUBJECT: Birthday Gift
I was just wondering why when I sent my nephew a money order from Toronto to Sudbury on a by 2 next days on Aug 29th that it was delivered on Sept 11 it was bad enough that the poor kid was told he would have it by the weekend and did not get it but on the 11th of Sept Canada post stopped that money order and is refunding me my money plus shipping and handling that is great but the money order arrived at his home in the evening of Sept 11 after it had been cancelled now he has already waited 2 weeks now he will have to wait an other 2 weeks before he gets his birthday money making me his uncle look really bad when in fact this is the post offices fault just a heads up this is the only 2nd time I have tried to send him money this was in the last ten years and the same thing happened the last time I did Thanks\ Roy Thibeault
I have generally had good experiences with the post system. I have had even better luck with the http://www.unitedmessengers.com courier services. I have only had a few pieces of mail arrive later than the posted arrival date. Other than that, I have had good experiences overall. My brother has had a few more problems than I have had. I will have to tell him about this forum so that he can comment as well.
SUBJECT: Wrong mail delivery
We keep finding mail that is not addressed to us in our mail box and our mail ends up in somebody else's mail box. Maybe the person delivering the mail in our area should pay attention to what he or she is doing. It would be faster if the mail was left in a pile and people could help themselves instead of having to deliver the mail to the rightful owners. Please let's have a little bit of work ethics. SUBJECT: I love Canada Post
My family and I use Canada Post all the time. We are constantly shipping items to Alberta, and Nova Scotia, and even to the US. The staff at my local post office are amazing, and are always willing to help, and I find the rates really affordable. I love being able to track my parcels online, but working full time, and raising a family, I sometimes find it hard to get to a computer. I just call up the hotline, and use the automated system. Sometimes It is nice to speak with a real person, so I try to get through to an agent. They are always so friendly and they help me track my package with little effort. Canada Post is one of the main reasons why I am so proud to be Canadian.

SUBJECT: Not using cleared pathways
I know I dont live here, but I have been fighting with Canada Post for years now about them walking right across my lawn. They cut right across and refuse to use the side walk and path that I clear of snow JUST FOR THEM. As per their snotty comments on our envelopes all winter. I have had 2 solar lights smashed because of this, and when I call to complain their supervisor even said to me "well they dont listen when I tell them". Hmm when I dont listen to my boss I get fired! I am tired of hearing CP complaints about working conditions, having to walk (boo freaking hoooo!!), and other crap they whine about. It's xmas and they havent striked yet at least! I hope my very rude note that I have now left on my mailbox does the trick, or will my mail now start going missing???
SUBJECT: community mail boxes
our community boxes are on birchcliff rd. and dunford rd. i have been informed that the boxes will soon be moved and will be an extra half mile farther, we in the area are permanent residents for over 25 years have had the boxes in the same place as we are mainly seniors 65 or older it is much closer to keep the status quo. as a war veteran with disabilities and my wife is 76 yrs.old my neighbours are in their retirement years. we have had the snow plowed and lots of room for parking for pickup and delivery for years. the newer location is about one half mile further and i have never seen it snow free and little parking area with large steep hill a short distance and impssible to safely turn to return home. if you do this to make safety an issue , the boxes to the east of us on birchview rd. and salmon bay rd. are a danger to the driver delivering and people picking up mail. it is on a sharp curve and traffic is at times heavy there is no room for driver to pull off road completely. in the winter the snow is not kept clean.
SUBJECT: Community Mailbox
My problem is that Canada Post and the Village decide WHERE to place this box without asking the people concerned in the neighbourhood. This happened to us about 4 years ago. They placed a box with 41 COMPARTMENTS almost across from us sending at least over 100 cars extra a week to this DEAD END 10 HOUSE STREET. This SIDE of the street has 10 homes is a dead end street and 99% residents retired. And since we have the river in our backyard , in summer we live outside. Since we are the few houses with bedrooms directly on the street it creates a lot of problems. Doors, bell, music, people not wanting to turn a the box but on someones drive way , grass and be woken up by the mailbox traffic and not to be able to sleep till 4am. WE have complained ever since, and last year with the help of the Canada Post ombudsman it was promised to us that early June 2011 the box would be moved. Well the place they chose was a bad decision. Uproar in the neighbourhood and a Petion went around not to move the box. Of course so many people didn,t want it moved , WHO wants it in front of their house ????? NObody. Since that time there is a lot of tension. One warm summernite a family here father and son started injuring and killing squirrels and chipmunks in front of our eyes. When my neighbour asked them to stop, the father just laughed it of. Not nice if you love animals. THE box is still here...I decided to MOVE.....Paradise at the river...Hell in the front. At least thats how I feel and some so close to the box. Canada Post and Village give people a choice, be democratic, give people a choice , whats the best place WITHOUT the interference of some peoples lives , without creating this tension in the NEIGHBOURHOOD .
OkanaganLakeBC.com says: We are sorry, you have to go through this, hope Canada Post figures something better out for these people. I wouldn't want group mailboxes in front of my house!!!.
SUBJECT: signature not as addressed
I sent a registered letter to my sister and the signature was not hers as I indicated on on the envelope that , " to be signed by addressee only and I saw that it was signed by her husband is there any legal action that I can take against him signing mail. I was told at the post office to ensure that I put to be signed by addressee on the envelope. They have home delivery not in a super box???

okanaganlakebc.ca comment in reply to Darwin: Canada Post sucks there is no doubt about it! When we had to sign for mail, Canada Post wouldn't tell us who the mail was from until we signed for it because it was from the Police.. little did Canada Post know that we were waiting for that package from the police. Canada Post wanted to deliver the mail, going so far as refusing to tell us who the mail was from. We think this is withholding mail also. Canada Post is sneaky. Sometimes the only way to straighten things out is by going to court. Try small claims court... it doesn't cost so much if you can do it yourself. Good Luck Darwin!
SUBJECT: no delivery
We have had no mail delivery since Oct 10, 2020. When we had a snowfall. I cleared the driveway and sidewalk within 24 hours. The sidewalk had a little snow on it because we have a lot of foot traffic going to school. It was well packed so I didn't break the ice off it completely. The neighbours across the street never made a pathway to the road but they got daily mail delivery. My wife had a stroke so I made a wide pathway down the driveway so she could get to the disabled transportation bus. There is no way that a mail delivery person couldn't get up or down the driveway if my wife can make it down with her walker. I feel that this is a personal issue and I want it reviewed.
