I don't really wish to comment about the unfair billing but rather your comment about hospitals needing donations: "And just one more thing, why do hospitals of all places need donations?" Hospitals (their foundations and auxiliary groups that raise money to support them), raise donations to help purchase new and replacement equipment, education for medical staff and renovations as needed to improve/expand facilities. The government doesn't provide funding for these specific initiatives unless its a very special case like a major hospital renovation where they may consider putting forward some seed money but mainly the majority is funded completely by members of the community - businesses, service club organizations and individual donors. What the government does fund for healthcare is the operational expenses for hospitals ie. medical supplies and the cost to pay staff (medical and non-medical). If you think about it, hospitals and medical clinics are normally started because a group of residents got together and saw a need for the service in the community. The funds are raised to begin the organization and then the government funds the operational expenses only. That is why hospitals need donations, to fund the equipment, staff education and capital projects. Its important that people understand how essential donations raised by a community to support a hospital are to keeping our hospitals and healthcare centres technologically advanced and modern facilities, available to serve patients when we need it the most. I believe its something we each deserve and thats why I, and many other people donate to support healthcare.

PEOPLE ARE NOT DONATING IF TELUS IS TAKING THE MONEY!  IT IS NO LONGER CALLED A DONATION!  TELUS IS A THIEF IN OUR OPINION.... TELUS IS JUST TRYING TO MAKE ITSELF LOOK GOOD, BUT REALLY ITS LOOKING PRETTY BAD WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT!  AND WHAT IF THE PERSON HAVING TO PAY TELUS CAN'T AFFORD THE DONATION?
