My name is Rose Marie MacDonald. I am actually making this complaint on behalf of my brother, James Edward MacDonald of Endako, B.C. He does not use or own a computer. His Telus # is 250 699 1759. He is 72 years old and has emphasyma. He therefore, needs a telephone. He had telus service for years. They offered him a real deal for $40 per month, that was supposed to cover everything. He has continued to pay up to and over $100 per month. They said it was for additional #s . He recieved a phone in the mail when his contract expired last year, which he returned. He is still being charged for that phone as well as the one he is using that he already had. He phoned about the additional charges that he has been paying. They said they would rebate him one months worth and that was all as it was his own fault. They told him to return the phone and he expected they would make a not of that as it had documents with it. His phone rate is awful. He gets OAS & CPP. He really needs a phone and shouldn't have to pay for all of this. I have really had a hard time finding any place that deals with this kind of SENIOR ABUSE. It is that as far as I'm concerned. He is very upset, which is not good for his health. He is now in a new 3 year contract that he can't get out of. He may have to just abandon his contract, let them continue to bill him and get charged. He would therefore have no phone. Thank you for your anticipated consideration of looking at this problem. and perhaps giving us some advise as to where we can got to resolve it. Rose Marie MacDonald

OkanaganLakeBC.ca says maybe this will help:

The Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunications Services (CCTS) is an independent organization dedicated to working with you and your telecommunications service provider (TSP) to resolve complaints relating to your telecommunications services.

Last time we went to this website we got a Trojan from it according to Microsoft Security Essentials, but could get rid of it by deleting temporary internet files and then deleting it from quarantine in Microsoft Security Essentials and it did not do harm to our computer.  We warned CCTS twice about this Trojan now.

I recently talked to a Telus representative and I also spoke to the Telus escalations department in regards to my text messaging increasing in price as of May 1st 2013 from .15 a message to .40 a message and each message that is sent to me I will now have to pay for. I signed a 3 year contract in sept. 2012 stating free text messaging, .15 overseas text messaging and free incoming texts. Is Telus not bound by this contract? When I called them they said no they can change their fees or add new fees at any time. They also said their is hidden clauses in their contract that allow them to charge more for services. I said that if this is so, then I am cancelling my contract for April 30th, 2013. The Telus representative replied back to me saying you are bound to your contract and I said a contract is a contract....if you change the contract, I am no longer bound to it....So what can I do now?

Michelle:  If Telus changes your contract, I believe you are not bound by the contract anymore.  You should read your contract because maybe Telus is right, if you didn't read the contract??  You could try these options the CRTC suggest.

Telus has been charging me the acess fee because in order to maintain the "perks" loyalty and retention I cant change my contract. So I keep paying it. Until tonight I am pulling all of my business. Over the years they have lost all 5 phone from my family plus my landline, so 6 contracts that now belong to other companies.

I can't believe what they are doing!! I complain and ask them to let me talk to there manager and they just say no no we will fix it!! Omg it's crazy!!! I hate tells!! I really hope there company shuts down and have to pay everyone back!! I asked my friends if they have ever gotten over charged Nd they said yes many times ! They have to call in also and get it adjusted!! Look at your bills carefully and all usage keep an eye on cause they will get u anywhere! They said one time I was making calls to people that weren't on my favorite 10 list , which I made then look into N turned out that was a lie! Pay attention to everything that they bill u for if u feel ur being over charged! And keep track of the usage u use on phone calls n data!! Check every month! It's crazy what they will do for your money!!!

Telus not only charges incoming text messages like bell, they go beyond and above to charge incoming roaming texts while your device is out of the local area. None of the other competitors charges roaming incoming texts as long as you have a subscribed text messaging plan at home. I was advised to leave my handset at home while going away on holidays, otherwise I will be charged for incoming messages that I cannot control. Telus is a joke, and I still have 2 years on my contract before I can switch providers.

Unbelievable, we recently traveled from BC to Manitoba for my step daughers wedding. No service from Brandon and Portage la Prairie MB and in Morris MB at all. what is this all about-we pay good money to telus to ensure service and this is what happens. What occurs if there is an emergency or someone tries to reach u.

I hate Telus and as soon as my contracts are done, they are so out of my life!! Can you imagine that being a good customer in standing for 10 yrs. and havin them deal me the crap they did !! wow I had purchasd with a new contract (3) yrs a motorola crazor... this phone lasted 13 months... it was sucking life out of my batteries, and not charging properly. I spent over 100 bucks to buy two new batteries for it, thinking that my battery was toasted..how wrong i was. I took phone in to dealer to see if it was still under warrenty.. it had just expired the previous month..in order for me to send it away for repair.. i needed another cell, as i have no landline. Telus wanted to charge me an additional $125.00 for a loaner phone while mine was in for repair! After being a customer of 10 yrs and more, i could not believe the nerve of charging me such an outragous price! and adding insult to injury, i ended up resigning another 3 yrs contract , just to get another cell phone, as i needed one, and had no other choice!! They are big time Scam artists! using you, time and time again..the usage time, air time , extra fees, and on top of that locking your cell so you can not go to other cell providers with it.!! I still have 1.7 yrs too to end contract, and when that day comes... Telus can kiss my Royal tooto..as im outa there!!! so gone will i be..They have lost a good cell customer all through their own greed and lust to control me...they can go !%@# themselves`

Telus is a monoploistic monster that unfarily charges people. Their dispute resolution process are non-existent, and to fight them on your own would costs enormous amounts. As a result, people do not engage them, and just pay their bills!!! I was charged $492.00 for January, and $390 for February of this year, and I have what is to be the most comprehensive plan!!

Vote with your money. I'll never purchases their services (lol) as long as the pricing and policies stay the same. A cell phone is a convenience not a life or death must have item. The providers literally have a license to steal
